The scientific name Tyrannosaurus rex means 'tyrant lizard king'. The T. Rex was one of the largest predatory dinosaurs ever to walk the Earth. It lived between 65-71 million years ago.
Individual dinosaur fossils are sometimes given pet names after the people that discovered them. As such this T. Rex is known as 'Stan'. Fossil bones are extremely heavy. This makes it very difficult to display large skeletons. Museums often use much lighter casts of fossil bones to reconstruct these giants. The running T. Rex you see in front of you could not be displayed in such a realistic pose using the real bones.
